What does Wallasey Round Table do?
The focal point of Wallasey Round Table is its twice monthly meetings,(chaired by one Tabler for the year) and usually held in the evening at a local hotel or if it is a social event it would be held at places as diverse as the local brewery to the crypt at Liverpools Cathedral |
| These regular meetings are the forum for entertainment as well as for
discussions on social and service projects, all of which can be both enjoyable
and rewarding.
The images below are from just some of the activities and events we have been involved with: |
| We visited Beaune Round Table Club whilst journeying to France on "The Beujolias Run", had fun a great experience and raised money for charity along the way. | ![]() |

Graham Jones managed to complete his first London Marathon in a magnificent 4 hours 40 mins to raise money for the Childrens Wish charity, we suspect it is the first time a Wallasey Round Tabler has done a marathon! An excellent example of having a great time with a social conscience, just what being a round tabler is all about.

History of the sword was just one of the fascinating speaker talks that was as ever far more fun than at first it would appear. Graham won the quiz! So we let him keep his swords.
| We visit other Round Table Clubs for meetings, social events and sports competitions plus internationally we go on tours which offer experiences of a lifetime that are only possible because of Round Table fellowship. | ![]() |

Such as the one here where a tour went from Cairo to Cape Town visiting 8 African countries along the way.
| We annually raise funds for charity by co-organising The WIRRAL SHOW which is one of the largest events of it's kind in Britain with in excess of 200,000 people visiting the show during the second weekend in July. | ![]() |

We recently sponsored a "Chance of a lifetime" trip organised by the local Police community liason officer with The Sail Training Association for local children to sail on a clipper from Ireland to Wallasey. We continue to support this worthwhile cause.
| Our membership is a broad cross section of our community with no limitations as to background or occupation . You make life long friends and continue to enjoy fellowship long after you have ended your tabling career. |

| Community
Round Table is well known for novel fund raising events which form an important part of its activities. With an emphasis on local and practical help, Community Service must be fun, whether it is local Carnivals, Christmas Collections or outings for children or the elderly. Wallasey Round Table jointly organises The Wirral Show which raises around £40,000 each year for local charitable causes. Round Table is also involved with National projects. Since 1986 we have supported the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Appeal. This continuing help has assisted the Appeal not only in locating potential donors, but also in the development of new laboratories. In addition over the years Round Table nationally has contributed more than £5,000,000 to the Children In Need Appeals. Meetings Wallasey Round Table usually meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month at the Hollins Hey Hotel, Albion Street, New Brighton, Wirral. |

Members come from all walks of life and join for a variety of reasons - perhaps as a gateway to relaxation and to enjoyment, or as a way of participating in the local community. It is, of course, an ideal way for those who have moved into a new area to find new friends of a similar age. |

Membership of Round Table helps to create confidence and character. The individual learns quickly to mix and 'have-a-go' at helping to organise and run meetings and events. The organisation is run by and for Tablers as a hobby. How do I become a member? After attending as a guest for 6 meetings, you are invited to join. There are no barriers regarding one's political, religious, occupational or marital status and the only qualification is to be male, over 18 and under 45. Ring Tim on 0781 603 1983 for more information. What about the costs and commitment involved? There is an annual subscription fee of about £80.00 and a joining fee of about £30.00, but this can vary slightly. As with any hobby the more you put in, the more you get out. This is the challenge of Round Table. What if I move away ? This is where being a member of Round Table really pays off. If you move elsewhere there will be a Round Table Club close by. Once a member of Round Table always a member. If you find yourself in an unfamiliar village, town, city or even country then there will be a group of friends waiting to welcome you. All you have to do is phone them and say that you've moved into their area. How do I find out more? You can attend meetings or events as a visitor without obligation or commitment.
