GB2JAM ... the Wirral & District Amateur Radio Club
|
The weekend of 14th - 16th October 2005 was our first major HF Club Event for many years, with the catalyst being the JOTA weekend. Previously, it had only been run by individual members from various Scouting locations around the Wirral area. It's success has forged the return of a big annual HF weekend for Club members with Scouts from many local organisations invited to participate. Two HF stations are now operated at our Irby Cricket Club Headquarters, where for more than 20 years we have enjoyed excellent hospitality. We are most grateful for the considerably support of Irby Cricket Club, and members of the Wirral & District Amateur Radio Club. Without both of their commitment, such a large event would not be possible. As JOTA takes place after the cricket season has closed, we have full use of the 'real estate' to establish good antennas to enjoy our hobby. The layout of antennas allows us to operate both stations without interaction and with an amazingly low noise floor on all bands due to the absence of domestic property in the area.
