Is your name Molyneux?
If so, we should be glad to tell you more about the family
|
The Molyneux family, whose
crest is shown here, built the Church and tended it for many centuries.
They moved from Sefton Hall to Croxteth in 1710 and became the Earls of
Sefton in 1770. The second Earl was the founder of The Grand National
Steeple - Chase. The death of the seventh Earl in 1972 marked the end
of the line. Their crest was adopted as the arms of the new Metropolitan
Borough in 1974 when it adopted the name of this village as its title.
