Southport Bach Choir - Conductor

SOUTHPORT BACH CHOIR invites applicants for the position of Conductor and Director of Music, to take up the post from 1st September 2008. Comprising approximately 45 mixed voices, the choir, established for 43 years, sings a wide and varied repertoire of music spanning the 16th to the 21st century. A full list appears on our website. The vacancy will arise from the retirement of the present longstanding conductor.

Rehearsals take place in Southport on Thursday evenings from 8 - 10pm. There are 3 or 4 concerts each year performed in the acoustically rewarding Holy Trinity Church, Southport, regularly using professional soloists and orchestra/instrumental ensemble. There are strong links with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Northern College of Music. In December 2007 the Choir sang the Bach Mass in B minor and was pleased to welcome the return of the original instruments of the Orchestra of the Golden Age for this performance.
