    Wednesday, 25 November 1998: Professor Liam Donaldson the new Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, will be giving the 16th Duncan Memorial Lecture entitled `Health Services and the Public Health' at 5.15pm in the Henry Cohen Lecture Theatre, Duncan Building, Daulby Street, Liverpool.
    Dr Eileen Crofton MBE will deliver the 26th Lord Henry Cohen history of medicine lecture entitled `A Scottish Women's Hospital on the Western Front: its Debt to Liverpool'. On Wednesday 4 November 1998 at 5.15pm in the lecture theatre, Liverpool Medical Institution, 114 Mount Pleasant (entrance at rear of building via car park, behind Lloyds Bank). Refreshments available in Foyer prior to lecture from 4.45pm.

    Exploring the Universe
    is a multimedia course using interactive CD-ROM material, lectures and videos. This can be taken either as an evening course or by distance learning. The course is delivered in two parts, each lasting nine weeks.
    Part 1- Historical, Cultural and Modern Astronomy from October to January

    Applied English Language Studies Unit
    The Applied Engllish Language Studies Unit is now offering `Fast Track' courses to intending postgraduates during term time. These courses aim to be flexible to departmental and student need. They involve small groups of students and entry is on a roll-on basis. The current course runs until 11th D ecember; the next course will run from 25th January to 1st April. Places can now be booked on our ten week and six week intensive full time summer courses. The dates for these are: 5th July - 9th September 1999 and 2nd August - 9th September 1999.
