The University Council, which is the executive governing body of the University, is composed of both academic and external lay representatives. The Council is conscious of the need to ensure that it continues to recruit as lay members the very best individuals from outside the University whose expe rience and expertise can be brought to bear in the governance of the University. A Nominations Committee exists which seeks and considers nominations of potential lay members of the Council and maintains a confidential list of such persons. The Committee would welcome nominations of individuals who have the qualities, commitment and foresight to support and further the University's mission at a time of increasing competition and change. Anyone wishing to make a nomination should write in confidence to the Registrar giving brief details of the nominee. Nominations should not be disclosed to o thers, including the individuals nominated.
