The University of Liverpool is a major participant in a new initiative between Royal Mail and three other North West Universities, Lancaster, Salford and UMIST. The University is a major user of Royal Mail's national and international service, and close involvement of management from the University and Royal Mail has already led to more savings and greater efficiency across the board. Liverpool has three groups, meeting their Royal Mail counterparts on a regular basis to review overall strategy, operations and finance.
As part of the process of getting to know each other at a personal as well as working level, staff from the University and Royal Mail recently spent a 'Bowls and Brains' evening, organised by Tony Rotherham, Central Services Manager of Operational Services, and Royal Mail Account Manager, Bernadett e Murray. At the end of the evening, after a hard fought quiz and an equally tense game of bowls, the University emerged as trophy winners. 'The evening was a great success', said Tony Rotherham, 'thanks to Bernadette, who was the major organiser of the event, and the good will of everyone who took part. We hope to hold more events like this in the future.'
