They completed the required units of study in an unexpectedly short time with their achievement highly praised by Peter Toyne, Vice-Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University, at an awards ceremony held at the Anglican Cathedral followed by a reception at Merseyside Innovation Centre. Both qualifications were gained through participating in a high-level graduate development programme run by The University of Liverpool's Graduate Into Employment Unit and Merseyside Innovation Centre.
The programmes, supported by the local Training and Enterprise Councils and European Objective One funding, are designed to assist local organisations by providing them with a highly skilled graduate for a six month period.
Remarking on the success of the initiative, Keith Jones, Academic Secretary, commented: 'The University of Liverpool is committed to providing enhanced opportunities for its students and the work of the partnership enhances this provision and brings benefits to a wide range of employers, particularly those who have not traditionally recruited graduates'.
To date, over 1,000 businesses have benefitted significantly from the initiative and over 90 percent of graduates who go through the programme gain full time employment as a result.
