During the summer thirty local schoolchildren spent the day in the Department of Civic Design to learn how the Internet is used in the University. The visit was the brainchild of Senior Experimental Officer John Marsden and his thirteen year-old daughter. John liaised with his daughters school, who raised the money for the coach journey to the University. Their visit included a tour of the University and refreshments (courtesy of SCILAS), hands on experience of using Email and mapping programs and a session with Chris Wooff and Paul Malinson of Computing Services, exploring the World Wide Web.
