Young Power Engineer Award

Charles Yakum, a research student in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics, has been awarded the Young Power Engineer Award by the European Power News Journal for an article he wrote describing his research into a new form of optical technique for measuring electric current on overhead lines. One of Charles' instruments has been used for monitoring currents on the overhead lines of the Eurotunnel Rail Link.
