
Karen Heath, a mature student in the Department of Sociology, has been named Metropolitan Colleges' Student of the Year for the North West. Karen, 37, left school in 1976 with the reading age of a six year old but has been so successful in her fight against dyslexia that she has almost completed the first year of her Sociology and Social Policy course. Karen was nominated for her honour by Wirral Metropolitan College, where she completed a number of courses which were run in conjunction with her employer, Wirral Hospital Trust.
