Two young members of the Human Bone Cell Research Group of the Department of Human Anatomy and Cell Biology were recently awarded prizes at the 26th European Symposium of Calcified Tissues. The meeting, which was held in Maastricht, was attended by 1,300 delegates from all over Europe and the USA, and there were over 300 posters and oral presentations.
Simon Wagstaff a first-year post-doctoral researcher was presented with a Young Investigator Award for the best oral presentation at the symposium. One of his colleagues, Alison Gartland, a second-year postgraduate student, was awarded the prize for the best poster presentation. Simon was awarded NLG 1,500 (about £500) and Alison was awarded NLG 750 (about £250).
