Dr Dickson said that the Everyman Theatre normally works with drama and English students. 'However, this project enables students who are also interested in science and technology to work with the theatre and the University, ' he said.
The project, called GetSET98, consists of six pieces devised and performed by pupils between 11 and 18.
'The young people will research and develop their contributions with a view to making them both educational and entertaining' said Dr Dickson. 'We will see a genuine response to how science and technology affects them and we believe that it will encourage a deeper interest in these subjects among t he audience. The project will also help to lessen the perceived gap between the arts and science.'
There will be two performances of the show on Monday 16 March, 1998, as part of Merseyside's contribution to set98 a national week-long celebration of science, engineering and technology funded from the National Lottery through the Millennium Commission aimed at promoting community partnerships thr ough science and technology.
