The Sir Alastair Pilkington Awards for Teaching Excellence are presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to teaching in The University of Liverpool. In most cases, the nominations are proposed by students, who are given an opportunity through this scheme to express the qualities that they associate with excellent teaching. The award winners for 1997 are pictured with the Vice-Chancellor and the Chairman of the panel of judges, Professor Kelvin Everest.
