The University of Liverpool has signed an agreement with the Finance and Leasing Association in which the University undertakes to accredit a range of certificate and diploma programmes offered by the Association.
The Finance & Leasing Association, the primary UK representative organisation of the finance and leasing industry since its formation in 1992, is the largest trade organisation of its kind in Europe. It has over 100 full members drawn from leading finance houses, banking subsidiaries, merchant bank s, building societies and the finance arms of major manufacturers and retailers, together with 60 associate (individual) members.
The University is to take responsibility for moderating the academic standards of the Certificates, Diplomas and Higher Diplomas of the Association.
The Director of Studies for the academic partnership will be Professor John Macleod who has, for many years, been external examiner for the Diploma courses. Professor Anu Arora will chair the FLA Board of Studies, which will take responsibility for the operation of the partnership. The University w ill appoint seven moderators (five from the Faculty of Law and two from the Department of Economics and Accounting), and one or more examiners external to both institutions.
In welcoming the new partnership, the Vice-Chancellor said 'The signing of this agreement marks an important step in the development of new links between the University and professional groups. We are pleased to work collaboratively with the Association in sustaining high quality training and devel opment opportunities for its members.'
