Professor Mottelson, who is the world's leading theorist in nuclear structure physics, won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1975. He is Professor of Physics at the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, Copenhagen, and Director of the European Centre for Theoretical Physics and Related Areas, Trento, Italy.
