The Disability Education and Training Strategy (supported by the European Social Fund) recently celebrated the launch of their 'Enabling Dyslexia to Succeed Guidance notes for Tutors and Students' at Liverpool Hope on the Waterfront.
Pictured with guest speaker Professor Christopher Buckland-Wright are Tricia Jenkins, Head of Access, and HEAR Project Worker, Eileen White. Chris Buckland-Wright is Professor of Radiological Anatomy at Guys, St. Thomas', and Kings Hospital, University of London. He talked of his personal experiences both as a student and academic with dyslexia. The combination of Professor Buckland-Wright's own coping strategies and an educational environment open to understanding dyslexia, has been instrumental in his academic achievements, and was inspiring to everyone at the launch.
The Guidance Notes are the result of a collaborative project, the Merseyside Dyslexia Network. This is a unique partnership of F. E. and H. E. on Merseyside as well as dyslexia students and dyslexia organisations.
If you would like copies of the Guidance notes you can contact either Ann Wade or Eileen White of the HEAR project on ext 4489 or 4497. Alternatively, the information can be found on the HEAR Project web site which can be found at: http://www.merseyworld.com/hear_project/
