To reflect its growing links with the University, Fazakerley Hospital is to be renamed University Hospital, Aintree. Building of a new clinical science centre at the Aintree site to house facilities for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is due to start shortly.
Aintree Hospitals NHS Trust chairman Brian Cooper said: 'We all feel enormously proud to be associated with the Faculty of Medicine at the University and we look forward to the benefits that this partnership will bring to our hospital and to our patients.'
