In June, Rose Dixon, a research nurse in the Department of Clinical Psychology, was presented with the Wirral Volunteer of the Year Award for 1998 by the Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Margaret Green as part of the celebrations for National Volunteer Week. The award was given for her voluntary work with several charities, including Wirral Holistic Care Services at St Catherine's Hospital, helping cancer patients and The Compassionate Friends who help bereaved parents by visits and support groups.
