He was accompanied on the tour by the Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Tarn.
Speaking at the unveiling, Professor Love said: 'By providing access to advanced technology, high quality workforce training, research and consultancy services, and graduate recruitment, the Foresight Centre will make an important contribution to helping local businesses to maintain their competitiveness and thereby promote employment and prosperity in the region.'
During his visit, Prince Andrew was shown examples of the work of Connect - the Internet Centre for Merseyside Businesses and the Product Innovation and Development Centre both of which are based in the Foresight Centre.
Prince Andrew was also shown displays mounted by Laser Engineering, Intelligent Monitoring Systems, the Graduate into Employment Unit and the Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies.
