The 23rd annual exhibition of the University of Liverpool Art Group was opened by Mark Blundell in the Senate House Exhibition Hall on 16 June. Mr Blundell is closely connected with the University, as a member of Council, and with the local art world. He is Chairman of the Crosby Hall Education Tru st which, among its many activities, runs a very successful annual art exhibition. He presented certificates to the prize-winners, whose entries were judged by Ann Compton, Curator, Art Collections.
Professor Donald Ritchie, Chairman of the Art Group and a contributor to the exhibition referred to the Group's role in fostering the creative energies associated with a major research university and in bringing the work of the University to the city and region.
On display were over 100 pieces of art including paintings, photographs, ceramics and sculpture, most of which were for sale. As an added attraction, several cases of ceramics and jewellery from the Blue Coat Display Centre were also on show.
