The Anglo Saxons

They came to England because they heard that there was some good land over here and the Romans had gone.

When they came to England the map looked like this.

This is a picture of Sutton Hoo where some Anglo Saxons lived and were buried under this hill.

Sutton Hoo is one of the most important archaeological sites in this country – described as 'page one of English history'. On a spur of land overlooking the River Deben, one of several large mounds was excavated in 1939, revealing the now famous treasures, including a warrior's helmet, shield and gold ornaments in the remains of a burial chamber of a 90ft ship. The exhibition hall houses a full-size reconstruction of the buried chamber and tells the story of how its treasures lay undisturbed for over 1,300 years.

This is a little girl who is dressed as an Anglo Saxon little girl. She is living with her mum and dad like an Anglo Saxon in an Anglo Saxon house at a place called West Stow.
