Sukkot is the Jewish harvest festival. At this time, people remember the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt and their long journey through the desert, living in temporary shelters.
Each year Jewish families build temporary shelters in their gardens. They decorate the roof with branches and leaves. Inside of the shelter (or Sukkah) they decorate with hanging fruit and flowers. Jewish families might eat meals or even sleep in their sukkah.
Here are some sukkot we have built at school. Sukkot is a happy time to thank God for the harvest and all the good things that we have.

When Jewish families thank God they wave braches of four different trees - citrus fruit, myrtle, palm and willow.
