Our Role Play this month is:

Chinese New Year

We are celebrating Chinese New Year in the role play area this month. We are concentrating on the twelve animals that the Chinese years are named after, identifying the animals and recognising the 12 words.

The children are also enjoying dressing up in Chinese clothes, using fans and playing around the world board games.

We are using this role play to learn about fiction and non-fiction books. This year, 2007, is the year of the pig, so as a class we are writing our own version of the fiction book ‘The Three Little pigs’ and we will be also completing a non-fiction book about Chinese New Year.

Related craft activities will include making model pigs, chinese dragons and lanterns which will be enjoyed by all age groups. Come back soon to see photos!
