Experiencing Narnia!

Last week we very much enjoyed the Narnia Experience, an exciting day out for the children held at the United Reformed Church in Heswall. Heswall Prep children joined children from other local schools to learn more about the C.S.Lewis books - The Chronicles of Narnia.

The Narnia story, ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ was brought to life in Heswall as we entered the wardrobe, climbing through fur coats into another snowy world where we visited Mr Tumnus’s House and met not only C.S. Lewis himself but also Father Christmas!

The five separate workshops held during the day taught the children about friendship, good and bad , jealousy, kingship and forgiveness. Through craft work , drama and mime activities, the children investigated similarities between the story of the lion, Aslan, and the story of Jesus in the Bible. Our thanks go to all the workshop team for running such an interesting and well organised event.

Further to this event, Heswall Prep are not only working their way through the Narnia books in reading time, but have created a model Narnia, held a Narnia colouring competition, dressed up as Narnia characters and sampled the temptations of Turkish Delight!
