WORLD MATHS DAY

One of the highlights of this term has been World Maths Day. All the children entered the competition which ran on the web for 48 hours on 5th and 6th March.

It was fascinating for the children to compete with children from all over the world in their own age group. They became highly competitive as they improved their mental maths skills and tried to win each round and beat their own personal best score in each game.

Everyone was trying hard to reach the highest possible score during the 48 hour game. The Heswall Prep winner managed to get a staggering total of 2668 points, putting her in the 'Near Einstein' category. Many others scored very highly and we all enjoyed the competition hugely.
As a result of our high scores we have won free subscription to 'Mathletics' until the end of the school year. 'Mathletics' is a complete mathematics learning platform, including both the arithmetic game used in World Maths Day and interactive curriculum activities for all year levels. We are therefore looking forward to using this new resource to further assist our mathematics learning.
