We believe that music, dance and drama are necessary parts of education to introduce the children to the pleasures that they can bring, and to give the children the confidence and poise that grow out of their own performances. In the Early Years department, music and movement are a regular part of the children’s timetable. Listening to music and singing are also important features of the school’s assembly each day for everybody.

At Christmas we present to the parents and invited guests a musical show in which every child, no matter how small, plays a part. Amongst others, we have presented
The Sound of Music
, A Christmas Carol , Dick Whittington, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Peter Pan, the Snow Queen and Cinderella. Other smaller productions are also squeezed into our tight timetable. We have recently presented Toad of Toad Hall in the School garden, a musical adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream and Alice in Wonderland , also in the garden. We also celebrated the 60th anniversary of VE-day with sketches and songs from that time and have produced our version of the Easter Story. A video is taken of each performance, so that the parents can enjoy the experience over again and have a record of their children’s development. In addition to these activities, the children may have piano, recorder and guitar lessons which are taught by resident staff.

Children can go online to our website to assist them practising both guitar and recorder. Click on the links to find out more or listen to one of our recordings.

We also have recently started a Rock Band in which the top class practise and perform rock and pop music of their choice with electric guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and vocals. Click on the link to find out more.

The children may also take part in speech and drama and ballet lessons which are taught by visiting teachers. These lessons lead to qualifications through the examinations of the Associated Board, the Poetry Society and the Royal Academy of Dance. The children also often take part in the Wirral Festival.
