Artistic Overview Paula Hampson and Andrea Buckley have much in common; Merseyside born and bred, Laban Centre trained, accomplished dancers, improvisers and choreographers. Individually regarded as two of the most exciting talents around, together they represent the most intriguing relationship on the UK dance stage. They continue to create work independently but join forces to present a touring programme highlighting their distinctive individual styles and the fascinating chemistry that exists between them.

Recent Productions The triple bill programme hermeus incorporates Buckley's W.I.S.H., a quartet for three dancers and a cellist, Hampson's autobiographical solo A String of Pearls and the movable feast of Gulp!, a three-way improvisation in which Buckley and Hampson are joined by vocalist / violinist extraordinaire Sianed Jones.


Forthcoming Projects

hermeus is touring in Spring 1999 and Autumn 1999. A second touring programme, hermeusII, is planned for Autumn 2000 / Spring 2001 and is likely to include an innovative film / dance collaboration directed by Paula Hampson based on her home city of Liverpool, a new Buckley work and the further improvisational adventures of Buckley, Hampson ... and friends.

Education Work Offered

Residencies and workshops offered by Andrea Buckley, Paula Hampson and touring company members in association with performances. Buckley and Hampson are available for residencies and workshops independently throughout the year.

Usual Length of Performance:

Full programme totals 80-100 minutes comprising three pieces each 20-30 minutes in length and two 10 minute intervals.

Number of dancers:

Touring company comprises 4 - 7 dancers (hermeus programme features 4 dancers).

Sets:

Varies. (hermeus - minimal free-standing structures and props, pressure-activated sound pads). Video projection facility may be required.

Music:

Live and recorded music - PA, CD and DAT facilities required. (hermeus programmes includes two live musicians)

Technicians:

Technical Manager at all performances.

Total number of people on the road:

Maximum of 9 (hermeus touring company comprises a total of 7)

Availability for touring:

Andrea Buckley and Paula Hampson will tour a combined programme of works in Autumn and Spring annually. Each is also available independently throughout the year.
