Andrea Buckley has performed extensively in the UK, Ireland, Europe and the USA, working with acclaimed artists such as MacLennan Dance & Co, The Gregory Nash Group, Dance Art Company and Barefoot Dance Company. She received the Lisa Ullman Travelling Scholarship, which funded specialised training with Nancy Stark Smith, Remy Charlip and Ann Carson at the Naropa Institute, Colorado. In 1996 she launched Andrea Buckley Company with her quartet Esther, a Blackpool Grand Theatre Commission, and was shortlisted for the Jerwood Awards for Young Choreographers 1998.
Andrea is currently supported by Dance Northwest National Dance Agency through their Dance Management Services Scheme.

Choreographic Works

1995-96 - Three Point Turn, a trilogy of solos, Murmur, Surf and Echoes, music by Daniel Williams and Howard Haigh. Commissioned by Blackpool Grand Theatre.

1996-97 - Esther, a company work for four dancers. In collaboration with Daniel Williams (composer), Helen Morton (designer) and Phil Saunders (lighting). Commissioned by Blackpool Grand Theatre. Performances at Nuffield Theatre, Lancaster; Bluecoat Arts, Liverpool; Southport Arts Centre; Bury Met Arts Centre.

1997 - Gulp!, A commission from Chisenhale Dance Space, London as part of the Contact Improvisation 25th Anniversary Festival. A duet with Paula Hampson and improvised music by Sianed Jones.

1998 - Surf, reworking of solo, music by Daniel Williams. Performances at The Place, London (Resolution!) and Alsager Arts Centre.
