Formed in 1988 our aim is to raise funds to purchase those items so essential for the proper protection and display of our local heritage. To facilitate this we organise talks by well known speakers on topics of interest to all those who share our joy in local heritage, and there are excursions to other museums and attractions.

Since our foundation, we have provided several thousand pounds for the Museum.
In partnership with our local council, Sefton MBC, we have helped in the areas of conservation (with the purchase of equipment to control temperature and humidity), cataloguing (both in practice and with the purchase of a Pentium computer and laser printer), and with the whole Museum experience (by making a major contribution to the refurbishment of the Local History Gallery). We have enhanced the Museum's ability to serve local schools (such as paying for a local live-action group to bring our recent Viking exhibition to life during school visits). In between these activities, we have provided the Museum with many other items which otherwise it could not have afforded.
