THE VOLUNTEER
East Street, Waterloo

typical clientele

The Volunteer is hidden down a back street near the sea front in Waterloo. It is a small, traditional pub, little bigger than the terraced houses which surround it.
The pub is similar in many ways to the Crow's Nest (see later) enjoying a reputation for serving good pints. There is no jukebox or music playing, and the atmosphere is similar to that of a 1950's pub.

These features have led to the Volunteer being popular with older men who are looking for a quiet night out. It also means that this is not the place to go if you want to meet attractive young ladies or a handsome hunk.
