THE LIVER
South Road, Waterloo
The Liver is one
of the best known landmarks in the area, standing at the top
of the main shopping area of Waterloo.
With rustic furnishings inside and flower boxes outside, this
pretty pub has a traditional English flavour to it. During
the day meals are served, and there is a beer garden where
you can (hopefully) enjoy the English summer.
In the evenings there is a pleasant mixture
of locals and those on a night out. The pub is active in the
community with a popular bowls club attached to it.
The Liver has always had the reputation
of being a Liverpool FC pub. After years of my dad warning
me about this, I decided to brave it on the night Everton
stayed up, only to find a bar full of men in blue shirts celebrating
the result. Whether the reputation was pure myth or my dad
was a liar I still haven't worked out.
