Surprisingly
there are relatively few voluntary not for profit organisations
and charities in Wirral who work with animals.
The
best known is the RSPCA in Wallasey, where volunteers can help
in various ways.
Volunteers
can walk the dogs in near by parks, help with cat grooming and
cat caring. There are also opportunities for volunteer to get
involved with the home visits for people who are unable to bring
their cats to the catteries. The RSPAC also does a lot of national
campaign work which volunteers can get involved with.
At
Tam O'Shanter Urban Farm in Bidston, volunteers can get involved
with tending and working with a variety of farm animals, conservation
work and farming work. The Farm has on the job training for
volunteers.
For
horse lovers there are opportunities to work with Wirral Riding
for the Disabled. Volunteers help the riders mount and dismount
the horses and help them to feel at ease on the horses.
There
are a number of opportunities for volunteers to work with animals
outside Wirral on residential and working holidays. RSPB have
residential volunteering all year round through out the UK.
Various activities including survey and research work, habitat
management, waterbed clearing and bird protection.
