GRADING INFORMATION

[Sure Signs] [Crown] If you are looking for a hotel, guesthouse, inn, B&B or farmhouse, look for the CROWN. The classifications: 'LIsted', or ONE to FIVE CROWNS, tell you the range of facilities you can expect. The more Crowns, the wider the range.

Q If you are looking for a holiday caravan, chalet or camping park, look for the Q. The more [tick]'s in the Q (from one to five), the higher the quality standard.

[Key] If you are looking for Self Catering Accommodation look for the KEY. The Classification one to five keys tells you the range of facilities and equipment you can expect. The more keys, the wider the range.

The grades: APPROVED, COMMENDED, HIGHLY COMMENDED and DE LUXE, whether alongside the CROWNS or the KEYS show the quality standard of what is provided. If no grade is shown, you can still expect a high standard of cleanliness.

Throughout Britain, the tourist boards now inspect over 30,000 places to stay, every year, to help you find the ones that suit you best.

[A.A. Logo] Hotels are classified with one to five stars, ranging from small scale hotels with good facilities to large hotels offering high standards of comfort and service. AA Branded hotels are all inspected against a defined set of standards and offer a consistent style of service and level of facilities. AA Listed establishments are also quality assessed and graded from one to four Q.

[R.A.C. Logo] The Appointed Scheme grades hotels from one to five stars according to standards of accommodation, services and facilities. The Listed Scheme is for guesthouses and inns which have 3 categories, Listed, Acclaimed and Highly Acclaimed.

[Welcome Host] Quality and friendliness are the key themes of the Welcome Host programme, a nationally recognised customer care initiative which aims to promote the highest standards of service and a warm welcome for all visitors.

Welcome Host courses are being offered by Regional Tourist Boards throughout England to train the people you meet when you travel including those employed in accommodation and attractions, leisure facilities, shops, car hire firms, Tourist Information Centres etc.
